What happens when Arnab Goswami,Times Now Icon, a self appointed crusader, who does not check facts of the story,overtly aggressive bordering on being rude and a smooth operator Omar Abdullah face each other?
Sheer entertainment and battle of words each trying to out bluff each other and coming out with egg on their faces.
This is what happened in the interview between Omar Abdullah and Arnab Goswamy of Times Now, on7/8 October 2011.
If Arnab could not answer the posers by Abdullah why Salam Reshi’s statement is being taken as the Gospel, especially when he is also in the scam,why Times Now is jumping to conclusions,why the Channel Telecast news item that Omar Abdulla has gone to Delhi to meet his lawyer , which the Channel retracted later,why the Channel does not trust the Judiciary and why the information on this story has not been checked before telecasting,
Abullah tried to brazen out the issues on being asked as to why he called a scamster to his Home ,why the IG of Jammu and Kashmir rushed to CM’s residence immediately after Yousuf was in CM’s residence,why cheating/corruption case was not filed against Yousuf in July when the accusations were leveled ,why Yousuf was disheveled when leaving the house when he left Omar’s residence , why Police Personnel present at the time of the incidence were transferred immediately and whether the Police would have acted the same way if this incident were to happen in any body;else’s home other than the Chief Minister.
The conclusion is , yes, there seems to be corruption involved and Yousuf was beaten to Death and a smooth operator like Omar Abdullah seems to have fixed things up.
How Congress would wish they had Omar Abdullah in their party to defend 2 G scam!
The Channel Times Now, especially Arnob Goswamy looked meek ,speech less and defenseless to Omar’s queries.
It goes to prove that you never air a Story without doing research and verifying facts, that too with an abrasive and egotistical Anchor.
This issue will fizzle out into appointing a CBI Inquiry and that’s That.
Jammu & Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Friday conceded that he was aware of corruption allegations against his party worker, whose death has kicked up a furore triggering demands for his resignation, but the information slipped out of his mind.
Omar said allegations against Syed Mohammed Yousuf were brought to his notice about two months ago but it slipped out of his mind to act on those allegations. “I am only human (and) with the entire pressure of handing a peaceful summer, the Amarnath Yatra, governance and a whole host of other things, it just slipped my mind,” he told a TV channel.
Yousuf died in a police hospital a day after Omar summoned him to his house to sort out the issue of corruption involving postings. The opposition People’s Democratic Party has accused the CM of manhandling Yousuf before his death. Another NC worker Abdul Salam Reshi’s allegation, that Yousuf was taking money on behalf of Omar’s father, Farooq Abdullah, for legislative council and ministerial berths, has further embarrassed the Abdullahs. Reshi, who was also summoned by Omar, told media that Yousuf’s condition worsened after he left the CM’s house and that he vomited blood before his death.
Every party has men like this who will sell political proximity for favours,” Abdullah told a TV channel. Yousuf Shah was summoned by Abdullah to his home on September 30 to seek an explanation from him on the charge that he had taken bribes from party workers.
After talking to Yousuf, as well as the alleged bribe givers, Abdullah handed over him to the Crime Branch. His death, barely 12 hours after he was sent to police custody has set off troubles for the chief minister.
