Shane Watson Others Axed For No Essay! Tweets

In cricket on March 12, 2013 at 09:16

CA omitted from the third test of Australia against India,Shane Watson,James Pattinson,Mitchell Johnson and Khwaja for failing to produce a report on how to improve the Australian Performance against India in reply to the drubbing Australia  received at the hands of India in the first two Tests.

Shane Watson

Shane Watson

The reason .according to Mickey Arthur, the Coach is that he had asked the Players to produce a report containing 3 points to perform better in the coming Test and the these Players did not do so.

Shane Watson flew home in anger.

If essays could win matches, Australia could induct some cricket writers into the team.

See some Tweets and comments.

@RichieBenaud_ : “So Australia has drawn a line in the sand. An important first move for any beach cricket team.

Former England captain Vaughan made fun of the decision. “What is going on with Aussie Cricket?? Didn’t realize you had to do an Essay to get a selection these days..!!!!! Bowl better,Bat better, Catch better, communicate better… Just bloody play better…. I am now available for Selection of Australia..!!!!!,”

“On a positive note Ed Cowan‘s presentation has just been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize!” was Fleming’s sarcastic comment, on his twitter page, @bowlologist.

The last one takes the cake.Seems that The team is trying to come to terms with the departure of the likes of Ricky Ponting and others.

Australians are so accustomed to winning they don’t refuse to accept that the present team is one of the weakest sent to India.

There are also unconfirmed reports that there is a sharp division in the team over Clarke and his Captaincy on the non inclusion of Lyon in the second test.

One thing is for sure, there is always  controversy around irrespective of the fact whether Aussies win or lose!

“The touring Australian team management stunned the cricketing world on Monday by axing four key players – vice-captain Shane Watson, bowling spearhead James Pattinson, pacer Mitchell Johnson and batsman Usman Khawaja – from the team the upcomingthird Test against India for failing to make a presentation on how to improve their personal as well as team’s performance.

This news led to a miffed Watson flying back home in a huff, adding to the growing speculation about a huge rift in the team. The Australian all-rounder added fuel to fire by saying, “I think it is very harsh… At this point in time I’m at a stage where I’m sort of weighing up my future.”

Australia coach Mickey Arthur made the team management’s stand clear at a press conference: “That’s a line-in-the-sand moment. We have given these guys absolute clarity. After Hyderabad, the whole team was really hurting, we were discussing ways of getting back into the series.”

India England Test BCCI Media Row On Photos,Silly.

In cricket on November 15, 2012 at 22:36

Media is reported to be refusing to provide photographs of the Test Match between India and England.

“International news agencies have responded by saying they will not be providing any photographic coverage of one of the most high-profile clashes in cricket. The British-based Press Association has also decided not to distribute photographs from the tour”

Reason ,BCCI wants the Media to use the photos provided in BCCI Site.

The BCCI say is concerned that press photography taken at matches will later be used in advertising commercials over which it has no control. The NMC believes there are already prohibitions on this in place and that press freedom is at stake.

“The BCCI has excluded photo agencies claiming the photography they take cannot be used in the commercial environment but it is a red herring because there are clear accreditation rules which agencies have signed that stipulate the photographic material cannot be used for commercial purposes. We are wholly concerned there might be something else behind this. It should be easily resolved. The assurances they want can be given.”

If there are safety clauses prohibiting the use of these photos for Commercial endorsements later, then what BCCI is cribbing about?

This argument can be resolved by BCCI and The Media for an agreed share of the proceeds.

As of now, if the clauses are in place , the action of BCCI is silly.

But the demand of the Media to BCCI to provide Broadcasting facilities at the venue at BCCI’s cost is equally silly.

They can do it at their Studio as has been done earlier.

Story:

This is only the most recent spat with media organisations to threaten coverage of the tour. Sky Sports will be commentating on the series from a studio in west London after refusing to pay the $500,000 that the BCCI demanded to provide production facilities at the grounds. The BBC almost followed suit before negotiating a settlement to allow Test Match Special to broadcast on site.

Ganguly On Laxman,What Are You Trying to Say?

In cricket on August 19, 2012 at 18:43

V.V.S Laxman

V.V.S Laxman (Photo credit: kalyan02)

Now VVS Laxman has retired and tongues have started wagging.

Former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly observed

“”Srikkanth has a big problem in communicating. A player like Laxman would not train so hard just to keep himself fit for two Tests. If they (selectors) conveyed their opinion to Laxman earlier, this situation would not have surfaced. Why they stretched till August? Probably, the selectors’ judgement has hurt him (Laxman) the most,” Ganguly said.

Ganguly also felt that Srikkanth’s selection policy would be detrimental to Indian cricket‘s progress.

“They don’t select a team taking the future of Indian cricket into account. They merely do a balancing act by means of removing and adding somebody. Indian cricket will not progress this way,” he had stated. “

What did Srikkanth not communicate?

His job as a Selection Chief is to pick the squad along with the other Selectors.

This he has done.

Is one to be selected because he is at the nets and training for the whole season?

On rethink, Ganguly might be laughing at this statement.

As a Captain, has he followed this pearl of Wisdom?

If at the nets be the criterion, then all those called to the nets should be chosen for the  season.

The other point made by Ganguly is that the selectors have hurt VVS by extending his career till August!

By extending till the end of the season, would they have not hurt Laxman after the season?

Ridiculous argument.

Again, yes, Selection is addition and removal.

If not hat else?

To the impartial VVS , though was a great Player, is definitely over the hill.

Reflexes have become slower, though they were not great to begin with.(except while batting)

One has to search for a position to hide him in the field.

I belong to the minority who think that, despite his Calcutta knock against Aussies and some more knocks, notably against Australia again,he belongs to those group of Players who play a great innings once in a while and would like to ensure his place in the Team for years to come.

VVS Laxman could not have retired in any other manner than this way.

All can not be Gavaskars.!(in Retiring)

Ganguly says that Laxman is a great team man and he had a problem in contacting MS Dhoni.

Making this claim does not indicate of being a Team Man.

What do you want Ganguly from MSD?

Hold Laxman’s hands?
