These are performed with water,a variety of Grass (Kusa,Dharpai) and எள் ‘Sesamum Indicum’ .
One’s gratitude is expressed to the ancestors, for we are nor here without them .

And to Those who are closely related like brothers and at the end of this ceremony this gratitude is expressed to those who have died without children to perform these rites and all those whose names and lineage we do not know.-that is to every one departed.

Mona Lisa On The Moon NASA
NASA has sent the famous ‘Mona Lisa‘ painting to Moon by laser.
That’s some innovative thinking!

NASA Beams Mona Lisa to Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter at the Moon.
As part of the first demonstration of laser communication with a satellite at the moon, scientists with NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) beamed an image of the Mona Lisa to the spacecraft from Earth.
The iconic image traveled nearly 240,000 miles in digital form from the Next Generation Satellite Laser Ranging (NGSLR) station at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., to the Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter (LOLA) instrument on the spacecraft. By transmitting the image piggyback on laser pulses that are routinely sent to track LOLA’s position, the team achieved simultaneous laser communication and tracking.

“This is the first time anyone has achieved one-way laser communication at planetary distances,” says LOLA’s principal investigator, David Smith of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. “In the near future, this type of simple laser communication might serve as a backup for the radio communication that satellites use. In the more distant future, it may allow communication at higher data rates than present radio links can provide.”
Typically, satellites that go beyond Earth orbit use radio waves for tracking and communication. LRO is the only satellite in orbit around a body other than Earth to be tracked by laser as well.
“Because LRO is already set up to receive laser signals through the LOLA instrument, we had a unique opportunity to demonstrate one-way laser communication with a distant satellite,” says Xiaoli Sun, a LOLA scientist at NASA Goddard and lead author of the Optics Express paper, posted online today, that describes the work.
Precise timing was the key to transmitting the image. Sun and colleagues divided the Mona Lisa image into an array of 152 pixels by 200 pixels. Every pixel was converted into a shade of gray, represented by a number between zero and 4,095. Each pixel was transmitted by a laser pulse, with the pulse being fired in one of 4,096 possible time slots during a brief time window allotted for laser tracking. The complete image was transmitted at a data rate of about 300 bits per second.
The laser pulses were received by LRO’s LOLA instrument, which reconstructed the image based on the arrival times of the laser pulses from Earth. This was accomplished without interfering with LOLA’s primary task of mapping the moon’s elevation and terrain and NGSLR’s primary task of tracking LRO.
The success of the laser transmission was verified by returning the image to Earth using the spacecraft’s radio telemetry system.
Turbulence in Earth’s atmosphere introduced transmission errors even when the sky was clear. To overcome these effects, Sun and colleagues employed Reed-Solomon coding, which is the same type of error-correction code commonly used in CDs and DVDs. The experiments also provided statistics on the signal fluctuations due to Earth’s atmosphere.

At the University of Miami, psychologist Arnold Lieber and his colleagues decided to test the old belief of full-moon ?lunacy? which most scientists had written off as an old wives? tale. The researchers collected data on homicide in Dade County (Miami) over a period of 15 years ? 1,887 murders, to be exact. When they matched the incidence of homicide with the phases of the moon, they found, much to their surprise, that the two rose and fell together, almost infallibly, for the entire 15 years! As the full or the new moon approached, the murder rate rose sharply; it distinctly declined during the first and last quarters of the moon.
To find out whether this was just a statistical fluke, the researchers repeated the experiment using murder data from Cuyahoga County in Ohio (Cleveland). Again, the statistics showed that more murders do indeed occur at the full and new moons.
Dr. Lieber and his colleagues shouldn?t have been so surprised. An earlier report by the American Institute of Medical Climatology to the Philadelphia Police Department entitled ?The Effect of the Full Moon on Human Behavior? found similar results. That report showed that the full moon marks a monthly peak in various kinds of psychotically oriented crimes such as murder, arson, dangerous driving, and kleptomania. People do seem to get a little bit crazier about that time of the month.
That?s something most police and hospital workers have known for a long time. Indeed, back in eighteenth-century England, a murderer could plead ?lunacy? if the crime was committed during the full moon and get a lighter sentence as a result. Scientists, however, like to have a hard physical model to explain their discoveries, and so far there isn?t a fully accepted one. Dr. Lieber speculates that perhaps the human body, which, like the surface of the earth, is composed of almost 80 percent water, experiences some kind of ?biological tides? that affect the emotions. When a person is already on psychologically shaky ground, such a biological tide can push him or her over the edge.
BLOODY MOON
Crimes and violence aren?t the only things affected by the 29+ day full moon cycle. In the Journal of the Florida Medical Association, Dr. Edson J. Andrews writes that in a study of 1,000 tonsillectomies, 82 percent of postoperative bleeding crises occurred nearer the full than the new moon ? despite the fact that fewer operations were performed at that time! Clearly, the full moon is a dangerous time for surgery, and the dissemination of this knowledge should result in planning operations for the new moon.
Phases of the Moon are said to affect the bleeding of women during menstrual cycle and patients are reported to bleed more if Surgeries are performed.

Scientific research on the theory
Some studies seem to offer limited support for lunar effects, but most fail to show any relationship between the phase of the moon and abnormal behaviour,[16] and meta-analyses have revealed that apparently significant results are likely to be statistical anomalies rather than indicative of a real effect.[17] In general, apparent positive findings have tended to be inconclusive, contradicted by other studies, or shown to be the result of statistical errors. For example, one study found a statistically significant correlation between lunar phase and hospital admissions due to gastrointestinal bleeding, but researchers acknowledged that the wide variation in the number of admissions throughout the lunar cycle limited the interpretation of the results.[18] Two other studies found evidence that those with mental disorders generally exhibit periods of increased violent or aggressive episodes during the full moon,[19][20] but a more recent study found no such correlation.[21] An analysis of mental-health data found a significant effect of moon phase, but only on schizophrenic patients.[22] Nor are such effects necessarily related directly to the behaviour of the moon. A study into epilepsy found a significant negative correlation between the mean number of seizures and the fraction of the moon illuminated by the sun, but this correlation disappeared when the local clarity of the night sky was controlled for, suggesting that it was the brightness of the night that influenced the occurrence of epileptic seizures.[23]
A reported correlation between moon phase and the number of homicides in Dade County was found, through later analysis, not to be supported by the data and to have been the result of inappropriate and misleading statistical procedures.[17]
Three studies carried out between 1959 and 1973 reported a 1 percent increase in births in New York following a full moon. However, a 1957 analysis of 9,551 births in Danville, PA, found no correlation between birth rate and the phase of the moon,[24] and a 2001 analysis of 70,000,000 birth records from the National Center for Health Statistics revealed no correlation between an increased birth rate and the full moon phase.[25]
A fifteen month study in Jacksonville, Florida revealed no lunar effect on crime or hospital room admittance.[26]
A meta-analysis of thirty-seven studies that examined relationships between the moon’s four phases and human behavior revealed no significant correlation. The authors found that, of twenty-three studies that had claimed to show correlation, nearly half contained at least one statistical error.[17]

When I went to the moon, I was a pragmatic test pilot, engineer, and scientist. My experience had shown beyond all question that science works. But there was another aspect to my experience during Apollo 14, and it contradicted the “pragmatic engineer” attitude. It began with the breath-taking experience of seeing planet Earth floating in the vastness of space. |
The presence of divinity became almost palpable, and I knew that life in the universe was not just an accident based on random processes. This knowledge came to me directly—noetically. Clearly, the universe had meaning and direction. Then my thoughts turned to daily life on the planet. With that, my sense of wonderment gradually turned into something close to anguish.

When we see our fundamental unity with the processes of nature and the functioning of the universe – as I so vividly saw it from the Apollo spacecraft – the old ways of thinking and behaving will disappear.
Throughout history people have sought to resolve the differences between their objective methods and their subjective experience—between outer and inner. Humanity needs to rise from the personal to the transpersonal, from self-consciousness to cosmic consciousness.

Mitchell’s views on UFOs.
Mitchell has publicly expressed his opinions that he is “90 percent sure that many of the thousands of unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, recorded since the 1940s, belong to visitors from other planets”[8] and that UFOs have been the “subject of disinformation in order to deflect attention and to create confusion so the truth doesn’t come out”.[9] Dateline NBC conducted an interview with Mitchell on April 19, 1996, during which he discussed meeting with officials from three countries who claimed to have had personal encounters with extraterrestrials. He offered his opinion that the evidence for such “alien” contact was “very strong” and “classified” by governments, who were covering up visitations and the existence of alien beings’ bodies in places such as Roswell, New Mexico. He further claimed that UFOs had provided “sonic engineering secrets” that were helpful to the U.S. government. Mitchell’s book, The Way of the Explorer, discusses his journey into mysticism and space.[10]
However, in May, 1996, in a 3-hour interview with Art Bell on the Coast to Coast radio program, Mitchell claimed no personal knowledge of alien spacecraft landing in Roswell, New Mexico; that the notion of there being alien-built structures on the moon was “pure fantasy,” and that there were no anomalies seen on Apollo 14 suggesting extra-terrestrial life.
In 2004 he told the St. Petersburg Times that a “cabal of insiders” in the U.S. government were studying recovered alien bodies, and that this group had stopped briefing U.S. Presidents after John F. Kennedy.[11] He said, “We all know that UFOs are real; now the question is where they come from.”[12]
On July 23, 2008 Edgar Mitchell was interviewed on Kerrang Radio by Nick Margerrison. Mitchell claimed the Roswell crash was real and that aliens have contacted humans several times, but that governments have hidden the truth for 60 years stating, “I happen to have been privileged enough to be in on the fact that we’ve been visited on this planet, and the UFO phenomenon is real.” In reply, a spokesman for NASA stated, “NASA does not track UFOs. NASA is not involved in any sort of cover up about alien life on this planet or anywhere in the universe. Dr Mitchell is a great American, but we do not share his opinions on this issue.”[13][14]
In an interview with Fox News on July 25, 2008, Mitchell clarified that his comments did not involve NASA, but quoted unnamed sources, since deceased, at Roswell who confided to him that theRoswell incident did involve an alien craft. Mitchell also claims to have subsequently received confirmation from an unnamed intelligence officer at the Pentagon.(wiki)
DID NASA Record Over original Moon Landing?
It transpires that NASA seems to have erased the original tape of Moon Landing by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.
Story:
A dramatic recording of the first manned landing on the Moon has been rediscovered at Nasa’s Johnson Space Center in Texas.
The tape covers the crucial few minutes as the Apollo 11 lander touches down on the surface of the Earth’s satellite in July 1969.
The recording is of the flight director, Gene Kranz, and his “white team” of mission controllers. Each member of the team was responsible for one aspect of the landing, such as fuel, altitude, orientation, crew health, etc.
The rescued recording of the perilous descent combines the flight director/controller loop with the astronaut loop. It also covers the decision about whether the astronauts should remain on the Moon following the landing – or immediately lift off.
‘Bad tape’The impetus to locate the tape came from Kipp Teague, who runs an online resource of data on the Apollo Moon landings.
It was found in the audio library at Nasa’s space centre in Houston. The recording had been labelled “bad tape” because it was in a very poor condition.
Initially, it could not be played, being so poorly tensioned on its spool. It was also starting to disintegrate, shedding metal oxide particles from its recording surface.

A few years back, NASA released a digital makeover of the moon landing footage, clearing up the poor quality of the imagery. The footage includes Neil and Buzz walking on the moon. Though these updated recordings have been out for a few years now, back in 2006 NASA revealed they had recorded over the original video of the landing.
The tapes were part of 20,000 tapes that were magnetically erased and re-used to save money. Wiping and reusing tapes, or even outright destroying footage, was pretty standard practice several decades ago. Doctor Who, for example, which has recently become very popular on the internet, is missing numerous episodes from the 60’s and 70’s for the same reason.”
