India England Test BCCI Media Row On Photos,Silly.

In cricket on November 15, 2012 at 22:36

Media is reported to be refusing to provide photographs of the Test Match between India and England.

“International news agencies have responded by saying they will not be providing any photographic coverage of one of the most high-profile clashes in cricket. The British-based Press Association has also decided not to distribute photographs from the tour”

Reason ,BCCI wants the Media to use the photos provided in BCCI Site.

The BCCI say is concerned that press photography taken at matches will later be used in advertising commercials over which it has no control. The NMC believes there are already prohibitions on this in place and that press freedom is at stake.

“The BCCI has excluded photo agencies claiming the photography they take cannot be used in the commercial environment but it is a red herring because there are clear accreditation rules which agencies have signed that stipulate the photographic material cannot be used for commercial purposes. We are wholly concerned there might be something else behind this. It should be easily resolved. The assurances they want can be given.”

If there are safety clauses prohibiting the use of these photos for Commercial endorsements later, then what BCCI is cribbing about?

This argument can be resolved by BCCI and The Media for an agreed share of the proceeds.

As of now, if the clauses are in place , the action of BCCI is silly.

But the demand of the Media to BCCI to provide Broadcasting facilities at the venue at BCCI’s cost is equally silly.

They can do it at their Studio as has been done earlier.

Story:

This is only the most recent spat with media organisations to threaten coverage of the tour. Sky Sports will be commentating on the series from a studio in west London after refusing to pay the $500,000 that the BCCI demanded to provide production facilities at the grounds. The BBC almost followed suit before negotiating a settlement to allow Test Match Special to broadcast on site.

BCCI Worried Over Deccan Chargers Sale ,Why?

In cricket on September 7, 2012 at 13:36

The BCCI is reported to be worried about the sale of the Deccan Chargers, who have floated a tender for  its Sale.

The BCCI fears that there might be litigation in the sales of the Deccan Chargers as the share holders have to approve the sale and there might be a hitch in this.

Other problems are-

Kotak Mahindra bank has stipulated that the sale must not be effected without their approval.

Yes bank insists that the sale proceeds must be deposited in a Neutral bank and not in ICICI, who is also a Lender to DCHL.

The Players Contract is to be renewed by OCT 2013.

Excepting the last part where there is a cause for worry(even this can be sorted out as the ownership changes need not change the organisational structure-the Players are a part of the Organisation as  any executive is as for as Company Law is concerned, there is no need for the BCCI to be worried about, especially Shshank Manohar  with them.

If the BCCI is worried then there must be some thing that we do not know about.

If the franchisee agreement is as per the standard version, then there is no cause for worry as the liability of the one who is the Principal is limited to the extent of their interest.

If the Franchisee  Agreement has any other clause stipulating indirect ownership for the Principal in some form like Directorship  then there is a serious cause for worry.

There was some speculation over the Constitution of the Board and it was cleared by  the statement  issued to the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange by Deccan Chargers .

“”With reference to and in the light of various media reports and speculation regarding the shareholding pattern of Indian Premier League franchisees, we would like to place on record, Deccan Chargers is owned by Deccan Chargers Sporting Ventures Limited, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Deccan Chronicle Holdings  Limited,”

Is this the Truth or ….?

The board spelt out its apprehensions, centred essentially around the possibility of litigation, in an internal note circulated to its working committee as a brief before the committee’s meeting on Tuesday.

The note says that the board has apprehensions of being “dragged into litigation from disgruntled banks, creditors or minority shareholders unhappy with the sale process”. It goes on to say, “as part of this litigation, the sale process may be blocked by an injunction”.

The board further admitted it may have an idea about how much money the owners of theDeccan Chargers (DC) have taken from three private banks (ICICI, Yes and Kotak), but “there continues to be a lack of clarity as to the full extent of DCHL’s financial problems”. The note also explains how finding a replacement for DCHL is an urgent need as players’ contracts are up for renewal on October 31.

People seem to be surprised at the scandals rocking the IPL.

Indian Premier League

First of this year is IPL match fixing.

Bookie Sonu Yogendra Jalan alias Malad has told the crime branch that he paid Rs 10 crore to a Sri Lankan cricket player for fixing a match. He also mentioned that some Indian cricketers were also involved in match fixing, sources said.

He along with Devendra Kothari alias Bhaiyyaji, were arrested by the city crime branch on Thursday. They are believed to be a part of a bigger international cricket betting racket, crime branch officials said.

The property cell of Mumbai crime branch on Thursday raided a building at Lokhandwala in Kandivli and busted a major cricket betting racket. Police arrested Kothari, Jalan and two others and seized two laptops, voice recorders, computers, 25 mobile phones and cash of Rs 5.18 lakh. All the accused were booked under prevention of gambling act and were remanded to police custody. “

“CHENNAI: Adding to the IPL action this season, a TV channel on Monday claimed to have conducted a sting operation that exposes “murky deals” among players, organisers and team-owners in the lucrative tournament. The channel, India TV, alleges that many players have confessed on hidden camera that they receive much more – by way of under-the-table payment – than what is actually bid for them at IPL auctions.
The channel also claims that spot-fixing exists in the IPL, first-class matches are fixed, and women are used to rig matches. Big names in Indian cricket and an international player, who is captain of an IPL team, are involved in fixing, alleges the channel.
In response, the BCCI has said that stringent action will be taken if the channel’s claim is found to be true. BCCI chief N Srinivasan says: “We need to have the tape; the moment we see it, whoever be the player, we will take strict action.”
The channel claims that cricketers in rival teams have jointly fixed the outcome of matches – a particular bowler offering deliveries easy to hit and fielders dropping catches even as the ‘partner in crime’ in the opposition goes on a scoring spree.”

Then, Shah Rukh Khan spat.

Again Luke Pomersbach molesting an American woman.

“Stung by a spot-fixing TV expose on Monday and left red-faced by the Shah Rukh Khan spat on Wednesday, IPL’s week of ignominy was complete when Team Bangalore’s Aussie recruit Luke Pomersbachwas arrested in Delhi on Friday for allegedly molesting an American woman and beating up her Indian fiance after a late-night party at the team hotel to celebrate the team’s victory against Delhi the previous evening.

The 28-year-old American had reportedly come to Delhi with her Mumbai-based fiance Sahil Peerzada for the match. She alleged that Pomersbach, 27, who had been spending time with the couple at the party, came to their room and molested her in Peerzada’s presence.

In her FIR, she said, “During the party, he (Luke) was trying to come close to me. Later, he befriended with my fiance (Sahil) and came in our room for having drinks,”

Siddharth Mallya’s Comment”the girl…is saying he hit her fiance…what a load of ….. s…, she was all over me and asked for me a bbm pin’

In the earlier editions of IPL we had a Guy swindling money and asking CBI to come to England at his cost to quiz him,Richard Gere publicly misbehaving with Shilpa Shetty, a black girl sent home,Shashi Tharoor being forced to resign, Franchisee revolting against BCCI,N.Srinivasan, present Chief of BCCI facing conflict of interest, allegations of trying to organize parallel IPL abroad, drunken brawls…..what have you?

Look at the composition of the event .

Liquor barons,Gutka Kings,Film Stars, Political Power, vulgar exhibition f money, cheer leaders,an euphemism for …?, one should be surprised only if things are above board and decent.
