In Health on May 8, 2013 at 17:03

It is known hat Doctors resort to unethical practices.

I have posted how a Doctor forced a patient to undergo operations to complete the target and the patient turning up Dead!

Under Health, I have also listed various unethical practices by the Doctors , Hospitals.

ProPublica is an independent, non-profit newsroom that produces investigative journalism in the public interest. Our work focuses exclusively on truly important stories, stories with “moral force.” We do this by producing journalism that shines a light on exploitation of the weak by the strong and on the failures of those with power to vindicate the trust placed in them.

Following is an excerpt from their investigations.

The next time your doctor prescribes a medicine, recall this and check if the medicine is really needed and will help you.

Money paid by Drug Companies to Doctors.

Drug Companies Paid Doctors.

“When Dollars for Docs first launched in 2010, ProPublica spoke with several of the dozens of doctors who had earned more than $200,000 from their speaking and consulting work for drug companies. Now, with records from more companies and more years of data, we’ve identified 22 doctors who’ve earned at least $500,000 since 2009 — including one, Jon Draud, who was paid more than $1 million.”

The totals listed here cover different time periods and spending categeories, and aren’t directly comparable. See notes below. See what each company discloses »

Doctors normally prescribe Riboflavin,a B complex combination.

Stick to what gives you relief.

1.Take two teaspoonful of Gingelly Oil, keep it in the mouth and gargle it around the mouth for about three minutes and spit  it out (Don’t drink it(though nothing will happen if you except an uneasy feeling).

Add rock Candy made of Palmyra syrup.

Be Safe Hospital Infections MRSA C.Diff

In Health on May 6, 2013 at 12:10

Hospitalization is a norm of the day.

Even for a minor discomfort bed chasers called Doctors scare you in such a way by saying, ‘I do not think there is any problem, but it is safe to undergo these tests/procedures so that we do not encounter any problems, not that I foresee any”

You are left with no option bit to opt for Hospitalization even if it is for a routine check up.

But the Dangers of Hospitalization is catching on to some disease which you do not have.Worse still is some diseases are very dangerous.

.Infections acquired in Hospitals.

Hospital Infections

“A hospital-acquired infection, also known as a HAI or in medical literature as a nosocomial infection, is an infection whose development is favoured by a hospital environment, such as one acquired by a patient during a hospital visit or one developing among hospital staff. Such infections include fungal and bacterial infections and are aggravated by the reduced resistance of individual patients(Wiki)”

Here is an Overview of Hospital Acquired Infections.

Details of the various Infections acquired from Hospitals,a break down.

Hospital Infection Details.

“No discussion of patient safety would be complete without covering the growth of superbugs: those infectious organisms that make patients sick, and may even cause death. They are called superbugs because it’s very difficult to kill them with existing drugs, meaning, it’s very difficult to treat patients who get sick from them.

Natural, but Life Threatening

Perhaps surprisingly, some of these organisms are present naturally in our environment without making healthy people sick. For example, about one-third of people are “colonized” with the bacteria staph aureus, meaning it lives on the skin in the noses of people without causing disease. Approximately one percent of people are colonized with the antibiotic resistant form of staph aureus (known as MRSA.) The percentage is higher for people who have been recently hospitalized…

HAIs – Hospital-Acquired (Nosocomial) Infections

An estimated 1.7 million Americans acquire nosocomial infections each year. They are admitted to the hospital injured, debilitated or sick, their immune systems compromised, making them easily susceptible to a colonized infection. Others in the hospital, some sick and others healthy, introduce the pathogen by touching the patient. The superbug takes hold and begins growing out of control.

How do we protect and prevent this?

Polluted Vegetables Photo Essay

In Health on April 26, 2013 at 10:55

Use of pesticides has made the Fruits and Vegetables toxic and they are the most polluted Food to-day.

Fruits and Vegetables, specially those with tender skins allow the pesticide to permeate into them.

As a general rule these are to be avoided.

As tot the rest, wash them at least thrice in warm water and wherever possible boil  or steam them

Below are a host of fruits that are polluted. looks like the whole lot Fruits!

Strawberry

“Strawberries are very tender and very delicate and grown close to the soil,” says Chensheng (Alex) Lu, Ph.D., assistant professor of environmental exposure biology, Harvard School of Public Health. That’s also where insects live, so farmers often resort to pesticides. To prevent mold and extend shelf life, they also use fungicides, even after harvest.

Celery

Celery. Buy organic or frequent farmers’ markets with small growers who can’t afford or choose not to use expensive pesticides, says Lu. (Don’t be afraid to ask the sellers about their use of pesticides.) Or try a cleaner green veggie alternative, like avocado or asparagus, both of which have low exposure to pesticides, according to the Environmental Working Group (EWG).

Best Low Cost Heart Surgery , Free In India Details

In Health on April 22, 2013 at 08:27

Cardiac Surgery in India is considered  to be the best in terms of Mortality.

The cost could be even lower if the Corporate are not greedy.

The lower cost is due to weak Indian Rupee and by Indian Standards the cost is still unreachable for the Middle and lower Income Groups.

Cardiac Surgery, India

Heart Surgery Free of Cost,India

Please check the above information.

There are some Government Hospitals, like the GH, Chennai.

But they may not have the Five Star atmosphere.

Or KMC, Chennai.

There is of course the question of bureaucracy and indifference.

If only the staff there were to be more dedicated, they can give a run for the money for the Corporate Hospitals

There are some Hospitals in India, which charge less than the cost mentioned here, but the do not have the PR and Marketing set up, nor do they have Glib talkers .

Leading hospitals have a success rate of between 98% to 99% for heart surgery in India, higher than most hospitals worldwide Benchmarking the biggest hospital for heart surgery in India with the finest hospitals in the USA provides a very favourable comparison: the Indian hospital performed 2.5 times the number of adult heart surgeries performed at Cleveland Clinic, USA, and 2.5 times the number of paediatric heart surgeries conducted at Children’s Hospital, Boston, USA.”

Cost of Heart Surgery in India.

The cost of heart surgery in India is perhaps the lowest in the world Some comparisons show that patients in the USA can save 90 per cent of the treatment cost by having their heart surgery in India. The cost of heart treatment in India is also very much cheaper compared with Thailand, Singapore, etc which also attract medical tourists.

Benefits of Having Heart Surgery in India.

Hospitals in India have a success rate of between 98 to 99% for heart surgery in India

Heart surgery in India is performed by cardiac surgeons of great experience, in terms of both number of surgeries, diversity of procedures and complexity of heart conditions

This experience is built on top of the outstanding academic qualifications of heart surgeons in India.

After medical school and internship at hospitals in India, many cardiac surgeons in India proceed to have super specialisation and world-class training at the best institutions in the UK, USA etc.

Many heart surgeons in India also have work experience in institutions as reputed as Cleveland Clinic, Harvard, etc

India’s hospitals have world-class cardiac catheterisation labs for diagnosis of heart diseases and performance of angiograms and angioplasties They also have state-of-the-art operation theatres that enable safe and successful heart surgery in India.”

Using pre-fabricated buildings, stripping out air-conditioning and even training visitors to help with post-operative care, the group believes it can cut the cost of heart surgery to an astonishing 800 dollars.

“Today healthcare has got phenomenal services to offer. Almost every disease can be cured and if you can’t cure patients, you can give them meaningful life,” says company founder Devi Shetty, one of the world’s most famous heart surgeons.

“But what percentage of the people of this planet can afford it? A hundred years after the first heart surgery, less than 10 percent of the world’s population can,” he told AFP from his office in hi-tech hub Bangalore.

Already famous for his “heart factory” in Bangalore, which does the highest number of cardiac operations in the world, the latest Narayana Hrudayalaya (“Temple of the Heart”) projects are ultra low-cost facilities”
