In a shameless ,irreligious and insulting act,Arunagirinatha Sri Gnanasambanda Desikar( Reverential title is deliberately omitted),has appointed Sex Fame Nithyanada as Pontiff of Madurai Mutt believed to have been founded by the Saint Tirugnana Sambandar in Eighth century.
The chap who is presently heading the mutt is known for his foolish ,intemperate statements,be it Tamil,Sanskrit,Hinduism,LTTE,Sex.
He does every thing other than what is expected of a Religious Mutt.
Some time back there was furore that he made sexual advances towards a boy.
Being close to Karunanidhi, an avowed Atheist,he was spared then.
No wonder he has anointed Ranjitha fame(?) Nithyananda as Pontiff.
Probably he is hoping to have some perks with Nithyananda!
This has to be challenged in a Court of Law on the ground that it hurts Religious sentiments.
If one were to file under any other ground , he will escape under cover of being a Religious institution.
He has made the ilk of Karunanidhi grow bolder in attacking Hinduism.

Pontiff of the millennium-old Madurai Adheenam, Arunagirinatha Desikar has defended the nomination of Nithyananda as the 293rd pontiff of the ancient mutt in Madurai, stating that it was a well thought out decision for the welfare and growth of the mutt.
“The charges against Nithyananda are false and those levelling allegations against him are ignorant,” said the pontiff at a press conference here on Sunday even as an angry group of activists from Hindu outfits staged a protest outside the mutt against Nithyananda. Desikar also brushed aside protests against the nomination of Nithyananda as the successor stating that neither the government nor Hindu outfits could interfere in the appointment of a successor.
“I was looking out for a successor for the Adheenam for the past eight years. In this backdrop I visited the Nithyananda Dhyanapeedam in Bidadi near Bangalore. The moment I saw Nithyananda, a divine voice told me that Nithyananda was the right person. I spoke to Nithyananda in this regard. He hesitated due to the allegations levelled against him. But I convinced him as the Adheenam needs an individual with spiritual and administrative skills as well as a fighting spirit,” Desikar told reporters.
The mutt building in South Avani Moola street in the busy area of the city was decked up with floral decorations to greet Nithyananda who arrived with the senior pontiff. The devotees and employees were visibly happy when the two entered the mutt. As devotees greeted them with music and floral tributes, Desikar crowned Nithayananda as a sign of nominating him as the successor. Nithyananda also crowned the senior pontiff as a sign of accepting the responsibility and abide by the mutt rules.
Madurai Adheenam is one of the oldest mutts in India, believed to have been established 1500 years ago by the Saivaite saint Thirugnana Sambandar. From the moment Desikar announced in Bangalore two days ago that Nithayananda was his successor, almost all Hindu organisations have been protesting due to the sexual allegations against the latter. “Jealousy, ignorance, lack of understanding about spirituality are the reasons behind levelling of charges against Nithyananda. But I was clear about Nithyananda’s spirituality,” Desikar said.
“Sambandar, also called Thirugana Sambandar, Tirugnana Sambanthar, Campantar, Champantar, Jnanasambandar, Gnanasambandar) was a young Saivapoet-saint of Tamil Nadu who lived around the 7th century CE.[1]
He is one of the most prominent of the sixty-three Nayanars, Tamil Saiva bhakti saints who lived between the sixth and the tenth centuries CE. Sambandar’s hymns to Shiva were later collected to form the first three volumes of the Tirumurai, the religious canon of Tamil Saiva Siddhanta. He was a contemporary of Appar, another Saiva saint.[2]
