Maran To Be arrested Soon ?

In Corruption, India on September 29, 2011 at 10:14
After flip flops ,’there is no evidence linking Maran to Aircel, there is case against Maran’-finally The CBI seems to have made up its mind(?) to file charge sheet against Maran.
This is the first step before  arrest.
We know what happened to Raja.
Let’s see what happens next.
If some one were to Link this to Karnanidhi’s decision to go it alone in the Local elections in Tamil Nadu, they are not way off the mark.
Karunanidhi is upset that Kanimozhi is not being released and the DMK cadres are boiling over the decimation of the Party in order to protect Karunanidhi Family.
Congress is in a bind, for to leave DMK would embolden Raja and Kanimozhi spill the beans, staying with the DMK will wipe out Congress in Tamil Nadu, where Congress has no standing in Tamil Nadu excepting when piggybacking on either DMK or AIADMK.
CBI today told the Supreme Court that it has got evidence against DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran in 2G spectrum scam and will file an FIR against him within a couple of days for various offences including showing “undue favour” shown to Aircel.

The agency also said investigation against Essar Group was still on and it will take another two weeks to complete it.

CBI, which filed a fresh status report in a sealed cover about the progress of the investigation, said the preliminary inquiry on the alleged involvement of Maran in 2G scam has been completed and letters rogatory (LR) have been dispatched to Mauritius.

“The preliminary inquiry with regard to Maran has been concluded and FIR has to be registered against everyone. A few more days needed for the FIR and can be lodged by month-end,” senior advocate K K Venugopal, appearing for CBI, told a bench of justices G S Singhvi and A K Ganguly.

Is the Finance Ministry engaged in mock exercises in running the Government?
If a Note ‘has no life’ why prepare it?
Dangerous precedent.
Any Policy decision can be dismissed on this ground.
The fact is that the Note says ‘The Minister has seen it’
It is also a fact that Chidambaram was present in the ‘No papers’ meet with PM and A.Raja as per the note by the Finance Ministry.
Is this also of no consequence?
Opening a can of worms,Pronob?
Finally Pronob has not denied the fact that the ‘Minister has seen the Document’

NEW DELHI: In what could add to the discomfiture of the government, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee has formally told Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi that the ‘Office Memorandum’ from the Finance Ministry to the PMOon the 2G spectrum allocation was not the product of MoF’s solo effort but an inter-departmental exercise. In a four-page letter to Singh, delivered at the prime minister’s residence just when he landed in Delhi from Frankfurt on Tuesday night, Mukherjee said the document was drafted after detailed confabulations between his ministry, PMO, the Law Ministry, DoT and Cabinet Secretariat.

The minister recalled that the note was essentially a backgrounder on the spectrum issue for helping the government put up a coherent defence on the matter. He also noted that it was prepared in the backdrop of demands from the Public Accounts Committee to summon Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet Secretary for explaining the role of the PMO in spectrum allocation.

The letter noted that 22 meetings were held between various departments and that Vini Mahajan, joint secretary in the PMO, participated in many of these deliberations. Through his letter, Mukherjee appears to be trying to blunt the claim that the Office Memorandum (OM) was prepared by the Finance Ministry to embarrass Home Minister P Chidambaram.

The OM had suggested that some decisive interventions by Chidambaram could have averted the 2G scandal. Mukherjee’s letter contradicts Congress’ and Law Minister Salman Khurshid‘s line that it was the handiwork of a junior official and that it had “no life”.

NASA Debris falls on Indian TV.

In India on September 29, 2011 at 06:57

Wish it had fallen on Political parties’ offices!

American space agency NASA has confirmed that a large chunk from its dead satellite UARS (Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite) has fallen upon the office of Indian television news channel India TV. Although no one was killed in the incident, the impact caused a big hole in the roof of the television channel’s building and at least three employees suffered concussion on their heads causing them to temporarily lose their senses.

“They can’t think straight after the roof fell on them, but they continued working and writing news reports after getting some first aid,” confirmed an employee of India TV on conditions of anonymity, “Doctors say that they will get back to their senses after a week, but they appear to be working just fine. They wrote various news reports that were as good as they used to write before losing their senses.”

However, India TV administration are seeking compensation from NASA and the US government as they claim that their office building and some suspected journalists have suffered huge losses.
